Job Description

The primary purpose of the “Production Maintenance Technician” is to ensure smooth functioning of the plant equipment through efficient preventative maintenance.

Production Maintenance Technician should be self sufficient in routine repairs and maintenance both corrective and preventative. The Production Maintenance Technician should be capable of supporting daily production and provide detailed feedback to management regarding production maintenance issues. Production Maintenance Technician should be training on the operation and maintenance of the CBW (Tunnel Wash / Dry System), Power Plant and associated equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Must work safe and follow all company and industry related safety rules and practices.
    • Responsible for the day to day safe machine operation:
    • Does not take shortcuts – always follow proper safety procedures when working on or around machinery.
    • Follows all lock out/tag out procedures.
  2. Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled:
    • Record all activities in COGS.
    • Ensure that all PMs are done on schedule
    • Advises maintenance manager and production supervisor of any PM work is not done as scheduled.
    • Advises maintenance manager and production supervisor if any PM work reveals serious issues related to personal or equipment safety and immediately performs lock out.
  3. Works collaboratively with all employees, always remembering that the maintenance department services production.
  4. Performs all repair work on demand in a careful, efficient and diligent manner.
  5. Must be able to operate (Start up / Shut Down) the power plant based upon schedule and plant requirements.
  6. Attend Safety Meetings as directed.
  7. Any other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.

Qualifications

  • The ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without an accommodation.

  • Trade / Technical school degree or certification preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a maintenance related function.

  • Proficient with electrical motors and motor controllers, wiring single and three phase components, ability to read electrical schematics, ability to trouble shoot and work with PLC and VFD, good mechanical skills.

  • Developing the following skills: welding, pipe fitting, gear boxes, shafts, sprockets, hydraulics to include proportional valves, cylinders and pneumatics.

  • Has succeeded at a job that required significant attention to detail and follow through.

  • Must have dependable transportation and to be able to work at any of the regional plants, or move between plants during the work shift based upon the needs of the company.

  • The ability to speak and read English proficiently.

Physical Requirements

The following physical requirements are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Frequent standing and walking during working hours.

  • Frequent sitting, bending, stooping.

  • Frequent lifting and pushing of up to 100 pounds.

  • Frequent grasping.

  • Frequent getting up and down, in and out of a maintenance position.

  • Heavy work – exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently
